Biography
Year of Graduation: 2013 Medical School: Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Current Memberships: MRCPI Fellowship/ Higher Specialist Training: Dr Sharif completed his Higher specialist training in Cardiology at Cork, Tallaght and Beaumont Hospitals. He subsequently completed two years subspecialty training during a fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology (the management of heart rhythm disorders) at Harvard Medical Schools largest affiliated hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.
Scope of practice
Areas of Clinical Practice: Cardiology / Electrophysiology / Sports Cardiology Areas of Special Expertise: Arrhythmia Therapy [including Ablation] Advanced Heart Failure Therapy Physiological pacing Inherited Cardiac Conditions Prevention of Sudden Cardiac Death Additional information: Dr. Sharif is a consultant cardiologist with a particular interest in cardiac electrophysiology. Having obtained his honours medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and following basic medical training at the Mater Hospital, he then received higher specialist training in cardiology at Cork, Tallaght and Beaumont Hospitals. He subsequently completed two years subspecialty training during a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology (the management of heart rhythm disorders) at Harvard Medical Schools largest affiliated hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He was exposed to a busy clinical service, an academically stimulating environment with access to a high volume lab gaining extensive procedural competence. Accredited in cardiology and echocardiography by the European Society in Cardiology (ESC) and by the European Heart Rhythm Association in cardiac implantable electronic devices, Dr. Sharif has been a speaker for the Irish Heart Foundation, Irish Cardiac Society and the American College of Cardiology. He has published in international peer review journals including Circulation EP, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Heart Rhythm O2 and regularly has presented work nationally and internationally including at the European Society of Cardiology and Heart Rhythm Society meetings in the US. He has a keen interest in teaching and sport.
